Leisha Distefano, NOVA Transition Coordinator

Assisting people with a disability to become ready for the workforce and get a job of their choice is truly rewarding. I don’t know many other people who can say that their job changes people’s lives but that’s exactly what we do at NOVA Transition and NOVA Employment.

As a Coordinator alongside Meg Elliott and Terry McAuliffe, I do my part to make sure things run smoothly across all 17 locations.

NOVA Transition is specifically designed to get young people with disabilities ready for the workforce by providing lots of real workplace experience and daily immersion in experiential learning.

I began working for NOVA as a Job Coach in Hurstville in February 2011, moving into the role of Coordinator in 2014. Since then I’ve used my ground-level experience and knowledge to assist our Job Coaches with the day-to-day running of the training room and overcome any hurdles they face along the pathway to preparing their trainees for work.

I’m so proud to be working for an organisation that helps people fulfill their goals, ambitions and dreams.
