Daniel - Reliability number one asset

How did Daniel get a Retail Traineeship?

According to Daniel, ‘I just did the work experience and they liked me so much they actually offered me a job.’

It was a little more complicated than that. Daniel attended NOVA’ s Transition program designed to prepare school leavers with a disability for employment. It’s normally, a two-year program full of work experience, industry visits, and training about employer expectations, but Daniel found work in just six months! This has to be something of a record for NOVA’ s Penrith outlet.

Through NOVA’ s personalised plan job coaches focused on his strengths and abilities to help him set realistic and achievable employment goals, helping him work out what sort of job he was looking for.

Daniel’ s maturity, honesty and excellent attention to detail meant NOVA could be confident that he would be an asset to any employer, which led to his work experience with The Good Guys one day per week for about 10 weeks. They noticed his professionalism, excellent presentation and consistent attendance. With his skills clearly well matched to his tasks, The Good Guys offered him paid employment. NOVA advocated for a permanent role, providing future employment security for Daniel.

And he hasn’t looked back! ‘My boss says I’m a great worker,’ Daniel said.

If Daniel can do it, so can you!
