Hayden - Growing in more ways than one
Hayden learnt about NOVA Employment on the radio, so decided to go along to a Pathways to Employment event in Bankstown to see what they could do for him. He enrolled with Bankstown NOVA Transition, and the rest is history! The 19-year-old from Potts Hill now works near home as an administration assistant for the Quest Realty Group.
His manager, Dean Stojanovski, says Hayden’s quality of work is equivalent to that of his other staff. ‘Hayden is dedicated to completing his tasks and excited about his work. His attitude improves the positivity of our office overall. He’s well presented, efficient and has a better memory than most of us in the office!’
Employing Hayden was Dean’s first experience of partnering with NOVA Employment. He found the process so smooth, supported and informative that he now recommends to other businesses that they recruit through NOVA.
Hayden has grown in experience since starting with Quest. ‘I do the work confidently now, such as data entry, answering emails and phones.’ Like so many NOVA Transition trainees, Hayden landed his job through a work experience placement. So he really enjoys supporting and teaching current NOVA Transition trainees when they come through on work-experience placements.’
Work experience and frequent industry visits were some of the aspects that Hayden particularly liked while he was at NOVA Transition. He also appreciates that NOVA helped him grow as a person. ‘I learnt how to live more independently,’ he says. ‘How to budget and save, how to shop and generally look after myself.’ As well, he made friends at Transition, and continues to catch up with them each week.
