NOVA Transition Camden – preparing young adults with disabilities for work

Camden NOVA Transition has been preparing young adults to find and keep a job since 2008. Our trainees work within a team environment to develop social skills and workplace etiquette, and take on leadership roles.

We cater for a range of abilities: our young people have barriers associated with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, learning disability, and chronic medical conditions. Trainees enjoy the hands-on activities we do that help them to get ready for work, such as industry visits, projects and guest speakers.

They love the number of local work-experience opportunities that NOVA Transition provides. We have a great relationship with local businesses, who provide us with work placements. Many trainees find open employment through their work experience placements.

We’re also supported by community groups such as Headspace, Lifeline and the Red Cross.

At Camden NOVA Transition, our comprehensive range of individual and group supports covers, not only work-related skills, but also life skills – such as food preparation, budgeting and using public transport – to help trainees develop greater independence that will help them to stay in employment for the long term.
